I can see it in your eyes, and it doesn’t do you any good. All it does is feed a constant desire to feel sorry yourself, because you were the victim of people stronger than you.Or else it makes you go to the other extreme and disguise yourself as an avenger ready to hit out at the people who hurt you. Isn’t that a waste of time?

Do it

(via wayreeya)

For as long as you can remember, you have been a pleaser, depending on others to give you an identity. You need not look at that only in a negative way. You wanted to give your heart to others, and you did so quickly and easily. But now you are being asked to let go of all these self-made props and trust that God is enough for you. You must stop being a pleaser and reclaim your identity as a free self.

We are the girls with anxiety disorders, filled appointment books, five-year plans. We take ourselves very, very seriously. We are the peacemakers, the do-gooders, the givers, the savers. We are on time, overly prepared, well read, and witty, intellectually curious, always moving… We pride ourselves on getting as little sleep as possible and thrive on self-deprivation. We drink coffee, a lot of it. We are on birth control, Prozac, and multivitamins… We are relentless, judgmental with ourselves, and forgiving to others. We never want to be as passive-aggressive are our mothers, never want to marry men as uninspired as our fathers… We are the daughters of the feminists who said, “You can be anything,” and we heard, “You have to be everything.

A snapshot in the day of the lives of Pashtuns. I don’t want to romanticize this city - it is a very difficult life for most as they struggle to move upward in society. Most people are relegated to their social status for their entire lives even as they attain a higher level of education because ‘lofty’ positions are reserved for those that have the appropriate status. As someone who speaks English fluently, I am able to attain almost any position I would want in Pakistan because it is a skill that is very high in demand.

Hate no one, no matter how much they’ve wronged you,
Live humbly, no matter how wealthy you become,
Think positively, no matter how hard life is,
Give much, even if you’ve been given little,
Keep in touch with the ones who have forgotten you,
and forgive who has wronged you,
And do not stop praying for the best for those you love.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
